The ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ marked another step forward on its journey of reconciliation at an event held on March 4, 2026, to announce a new undergraduate major in Indigenous Studies.

ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ held a well-attended TRC Mawi’omi in the Quadrangle between Kelley Memorial Building and the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, from 10:00 am–2:00 pm, on Friday, October 3.

A Sacred Fire was lit as part of the ceremony in advance of taking the Tipi down for the fall and winter seasons.

Red Dress Day is a National Day of Awareness and Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Gender Diverse Peoples (MMIWG2S) that takes place on May 5. It is a day to remember, to learn, and to take action.

The ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies (IKERAS) held a Sharing Our Stories and Apukna'jit Spirit Ceremony on February 5 at ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ.

The TRC Mawi’omi, held on Friday, October 25, at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, drew a large crowd made up of members of the Indigenous, campus, and broader community, with many wearing traditional regalia or orange shirts.

Twenty-seven community organizations received a total of $657,453 through the Government of Prince Edward Island’s Gender, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (GEDI), and Community Enhancement Program to support healthier, more inclusive, diverse communities across PEI. Two of those recipients were the ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Experiential Education Department and the ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Mawi’omi Indigenous Student Centre.

The Mawi’omi Indigenous Student Centre at ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ is hosting a series of events leading up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which is September 30, 2023.
